Flood waters in several areas have receded. However, the Department of Meteorology has forecast intermittent showers in 14 districts. Assistance for the flood victims has been increased. These details were given by the Disaster Management Centre.
Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippilly said that the number effected by the disaster has reached over 311 thousand. By this afternoon, about 100 thousand had managed to overcome the difficulties they had experienced within the past few days. The number of welfare centres had declined from 78 to 62. About 10 thousand 615 persons have taken shelter in these welfare centres. They are being continuously provided relief. The Disaster Management centre had allocated more than 38 million rupees for the relief work.
