A large lakeside home went up in flames early Tuesday morning in southwest Mecklenburg County, but fire wasn't the big story at the house.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for the home's residents, after authorities discovered hundreds of marijuana plants inside the structure.
The plants could have a street value of more than $1 million.
The fire was reported about 12:30 a.m. at a 4,200-square-foot, three-story house in the 16100 block of York Road, near Lake Wylie and the Buster Boyd Bridge. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the house engulfed in flames.
