Colombo Chief Magistrate Champa Janaki Rajaratnam has issued an order remanding former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka who is alleged to have committed an offence under Emergency Regulations, in military custody until 7th of June.

The order was issued after Sarath Fonseka was produced before the Magistrate’s Court this morning. He was charged over a statement alleged to have made, that the Defence Secretary had ordered the killing of LTTE cadres who came with white flags.

Solicitor General Wasantha Navaratne Bandara referred to the need of securing a statement from the Sri Lanka permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva Shenuka Seneviratne.
