The French national charged in the drug investigation of former South Carolina state Treasurer Thomas Ravenel has pleaded guilty to drug possession.
Court documents show Pascal Etcheber (PASS'-kal ETCH'-uh-behr) pleaded guilty on Tuesday to having marijuana. Etcheber had faced a half-dozen charges, including lying to federal agents, but those were set aside in return for his plea.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports a federal judge sentenced Etcheber to a $1,000 fine and three years probation.
Etcheber was arrested last year and charged with lying to authorities during the investigation of Ravenel.
The Republican resigned and pleaded guilty in 2007 to buying cocaine for himself and to share with friends. He completed a 10-month prison sentence in March 2009.
