The President expressed these views during an interview with Al Jazira TV channel that was telecast last evening.
The President observed that the people who were liberated from the clutches of the terrorists in the North are being granted all required facilities. The country is moving towards the development targets together with them. The government is prepared to surmount all challenges.
A Majority of the displaced have been resettled in the North. The target of the Government is to resettle the remaining people, within the next three months. The masses have placed their complete trust in the Government. The President said the Government will not betray their trust. Its position is not to permit anyone to interfere with the sovereignty of the country.
The Government is geared to hold an internal investigation if any problems persists. He is even prepared to undergo punishment, if found guilty. But external regimes cannot be permitted to intervene in such matters. The President pointed out in the interview that certain governments that have committed mass murders on foreign soil have attempted to exert pressure on Sri Lanka.
