A new Maternity Unit has been built at the Silawathura Hospital in Mannar.
The northern villages that were liberated from the terrorists are being rebuilt under the “Uthuru Wasanthaya” programme. Lives are also returning to normalcy. The work at the Silawathura Hospital was restarted after 20 years. The Hospital is beneficial for the people living in a number of villages belonging to the Musalie Divisional Secretariat area.
The Maternity ward was built with the cost of more than eight million rupees extended by the UNICEF. It was inaugurated under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. The Silawathura Hospital is conducting mobile services to uplift the health facilities of the people. Ministers Rishath Bathiudeen and Patalie Champika Ranwaka, Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri and UNICEF representatives in Sri Lanka were present on the occasion.
