The Sri Lanka Navy is taking initiatives to extend the routes of the canal boat service which was recently started along the Wellawatte canal.
This is in response to the increased demand received from the public who have found the Navy initiative very convenient, safe and time-saving.
Senior Naval Officers made a field visit to the project expansion areas. They were joined by Chairmen of Central Environmental Authority and Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation prior to the Naval team’s inspection tour along the project expansion canals. Both parties held a field discussion focused on the speedy implementation of the expansion project. Measures are now in place to expand the canal boat service for the convenience of the public. Necessary infrastructure is being developed to expedite the process in collaboration with relevant Government officials and institutions.
