Artifacts to be conserved

The government is mulling over the launching of a programme for the protection of artifacts. Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne has sought the support of the nation in this respect.

The Prime Minister said that the safeguarding of valuable artifacts would be a strength to the people. He pointed out that everyone should have an awareness on the history of the country.

The Prime Minister was speaking at a ceremony organized at the Sirisanghabo Raja Maha Vihare at Weheragala, in Kahatagasdigiliya. The Prime Minister unveiled the pinnacle of the Chaithya. Members of the Maha Sangha, Parliamentarians and North Central Chief Minister were among those present.
