Urgent measures are being taken for the development of the Hambantota General Hospital.
Deputy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera inspected the Hospital. He has given instructions to over the shortages in the newly constructed ward complex and the surgical theatre. The ward complex consists of 360 beds. The Deputy Minster instructed to inaugurate the complex after within the next three months after eliminating the shortcomings.
Arrangements are also afoot to build a new Hospital consisting of 1500 beds in the Hambantota new town in addition to the existing Hospital. It will be completed within three years. The Deputy Minister has also taken measures to fill the vacancies for specialist doctors.
