Residents in central South Carolina are going to hear the roar of F-16 fighter jet engines well into the evening this week.
Air Force spokeswoman 2nd Lt. Emily Chilson says pilots and crews with fighter jet squadrons from Shaw Air Force Base are set to begin night time training Tuesday.
Chilson says the flights will continue through Thursday evening starting from the base outside Sumter.
The flights allow the pilots to train with night vision equipment and practice specific tactics to help them survive during combat.
The fighter jets have specific areas within which they are allowed to train so they don't interfere with commercial air traffic.
