Minister Basil Rajapaksa has emphasized that the Government is prepared to amend any existing legislation which hinders the public.
The Minister chaired a special discussion this morning to prepare plans needed for the immediate implementation of the “Kandurata Udana” mega development programme, enunciated in the “Mahinda Chintana – Extended Version”. The discussion was held at the Kandy District Secretariat. Mr. Rajapaksa revealed that the grants required for this programme will be allocated in the next Budget.
The Minister said every piece of legislation has been enacted on behalf of the people. As such, there is more space in these laws to address problems of the public. If there are any obstructions caused, he emphasized that the President and his Government was ready to amend such legislation. Many Parliamentarians and officials were present.
