South Carolina's tourism chief is spreading the word about state parks during an appearance in the Upstate.
Chad Prosser, director of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, speaks on Thursday at the Greenville County Museum of Art.
He wrote the text for "Beautiful Places: The Timeless Beauty of South Carolina State Parks," a photography book produced for the park system's 75th anniversary last year.
There have been a number of improvement projects at state parks since Prosser became PRT director seven years ago.
They include wildlife inventories at three parks as well as renovation of lodges and cabins at Paris Mountain and Table Rock. The state also created a visitor center at the Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area.
