The United Kingdom has stressed that it will not permit terrorist activities on its soil.
British High Commissioner Dr. Peter Hayes laid this emphasis during a meeting with Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne. The discussion was held at the Prime Minister’s office. The High Commissioner pointed out that his country was still carrying out anti terrorism operations. Laws are strictly enforced against all individuals and institutions suspected of supporting LTTE terrorism. Measures have been adopted to direct the Tamil Diaspora towards creating harmony between communities. Dr. Hayes said Britain is continuously assisting development work in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister also met the Korea’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka. They focused on strengthening economic relations between the two countries. The Korean ambassador said his country will extend full support for the development programmes mooted in Sri Lanka.
