President Rajapaksa makes an appeal to the global business community to join in the mega development process in Sri Lanka, where peace prevails.

The President said their policy is vibrant. Their package is exciting and enticing. He earnestly invited the participants to join in Sri Lanka’s development process. He thanked the IIFA for choosing Colombo as the venue for their colourful Awards ceremony. The FICCI and IIFA Forum leads the way to a new understanding, new venture and a new bond of friendship to sustain business relations between India and Sri Lanka and their people. He wished them a bright future.

The President expressed these views at the Global Business Forum organized prior to the IIFA Awards ceremony. Today is the Second day of the Videocon IIFA Weekend.

The President was addressing the FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum organized as part of the Videocon IIFA Weekend. The aim of the event was to solidify Indo-Sri Lanka economic ties. A notable feature was the assurance extended by an Indian representative to contribute for a period of one year to upgrade education in the Northern and Eastern regions. Sabash Joseph, Director of Wizcraft, instrumental in the launching of the IIFA Weekend giving his views on the occasion opined that Sri Lanka’s hospitality was very high. Sri Lanka is the only country where a Security Chief is in a happy mood and upbeat. Sabash Joseph emphasized that it is an example to the entire world.

Another highlight of the event was the presentation of awards by the President to artistes who showcased their skills in the Indian business sector and various other fields.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and a group of Indian legislators were present on the occasion. Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral, India’s High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Ashok K.Kantha and many Senior Government Officials also graced the occasion.
