Kings XI Punjab captain Kumar Sangakkara was upbeat after his team notched up its first win of the tournament, getting the better of Chennai Super Kings in a rather one-sided Super Over after the teams played out a tie.
“We have not really been playing at our best, but we came from behind to steal it here. We can only get better,” he said. The Sri Lankan also heaped praise on Super Over hero Juan Theron.
“Theron bowled unbelievably well, considering he had just gotten off the plane. He kept it simple and trusted his strengths.”
Coach Tom Moody stressed the importance of the win as well. “It is a significant win. The most difficult part is to regain confidence and the momentum, to play with a free spirit without fear of failure. We have climbed the hill,” he said.
