The construction of the Deduru Oya Reservoir will be completed before the next Maha season. The payment of compensation and distribution of land to families displaced as a result of the Project has been completed.
It is considered to be the largest reservoir in the Northwestern Province. The 1st phase of the project was completed at a cost of 6250 million rupees.
The proposed area for development spans 5700 hectares. The second phase of the project was launched under the patronage of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
