The Government has announced the visit of the Vice Primer of the State Council of the Republic of China, Zhang Dejang. He will begin an official visit on the 10th of this month.Mr. Dejiang was an alternate member of the 14th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 15th CPC Central Committee. He was also a member of the Politburo of the 16th CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. He is currently a member of the Politburo of the 17th CPC Central Committee as well as being the Vice-Premier of the State ?Council.
During his three-day visit, the Vice-Premier of China will call on the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker. The delegation from China will consist of 30 members. China is at present one of Sri Lanka’s biggest allies and has funded several development projects in the country.
