Sri Lanka’s Envoy to Hanoi Ivan Amarasinghe said this delegation from Vietnam is a state promoted initiative. It encompasses the state sector through representation by high Government officials led by a powerful Vice Minister in charge of Trade and Industry.
The delegation will have 25 private sector members. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said it will inaugurate the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Business Council with visiting vice trade minister Le Doung Quant as chief guest. The vice minister will meet senior government officials including Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Mr. Amarasinghe said the visit will take off from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce forum held during a state visit by President Rajapaksa to Vietnam in October 2009 which generated much interest.
