Traffic on Interstate 77 in South Carolina will have to slow down for the next several months as crews repair a bridge with cracked steel girders in Chester County.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports the bridges on I-77 will be closed, forcing traffic to detour on to Exit 62, then go back up the on ramp.
Speed limits will be lowered and the road traveling beneath the bridges with the cracked girders has been closed.
South Carolina Department of Transportation officials hope to have the repairs on the I-77 bridges finished by August.
The cracks led to an inspection of more than 70 similar bridges across the state. Cracks were found in the girders of one other bridge in York County.
