A meeting between President Rajapaksa and the TNA Parliamentarians was held last evening. The President stressed that solutions for the people’s problems in the North will be found before the end of this year. The Government is mulling over the launching of mobile Kachcheris to solve their day to day problems. It is expected to issue marriage, birth and death certificates and meet their other requirements through this system.
The programme to absorb former LTTE cadres into society will also be expedited. A process will be launched to impart vocational training to them. The President said the Government will try to provide bicycles and motorcycles abandoned by the people due to LTTE terrorist activities, to the genuine owners. Health, education, agriculture and fisheries were discussed in detail.
Awareness was raised in the TNA members about the resettlement activities. The President pointed out that measures were in place to extemd the necessary facilities for the resettled people. The TNA Parliamentarians appreciated the programme launched by the Government to solve the problems of the Tamil people by convening the All Party Representative Committee.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa stated that the Government will be dedicated towards the development of the areas in which the resettlement was taking place.
