The Chinese Vice Premier reached the island last night. On arrival at the Katunayake International Airport on a special flight, he was warmly greeted by Minister Maithripala Sirisena and Deputy Ministers Geethanjana Gunawardena and Siripala Gamlath. Thereafter he signed the special Guests Book at the Airport.
During his three day stay, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa and Senior Government officials for talks. The Chinese Vice Premier is accompanied by a high-powered delegation. Attention is due to be focused on many development projects between China and Sri Lanka. Sources emanating from the Government said that several important decisions related to Sri Lanka’s development process are due to be reached during the official visit by the Chinese Vice Premier.
