Jun 12, 2010 4:36:57 AM - itnnews.lk

The groundwork has been completed to formulate the National Education Policy.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the Parliamentary Consultative Committee will appoint a Sub Committee to study the changes that have to be effected in the education field. The National Education Commission has handed over a report on the draft of the proposed Education Reforms to the President. The Sub Committee will be tasked with the responsibility of presenting a new programme after studying the report. It is expected to seek the views of political parties, intellectuals, religious leaders as well as the common people in this respect. The report of the Sub Committee will be presented to the Parliament within three months. Minister Gunawardena said that the new education policy will be introduced by next year.
