Jun 12, 2010 12:15:00 PM - itnnews.lk

A 184-day mega development programme has been unveiled for the upliftment of Gampaha. However, Minister Basil Rajapaksa claimed that development will not be limited only to one District.

The Minister said that the background to develop Gampaha has already been prepared. A 184-day programme has been agreed upon and he announced it is unveiled from the Gampaha District. He assured that Janasabha will be established soon for the people to get involved in their work. He added that under this programme, the responsibility of the village will be vested in the people.

Mr. Rajapaksa was addressing the SLFP Central Organisation meeting of the Kelaniya electorate. It was held at the Kiribathgoda town. Expressing his views, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said the President has made the SLFP the strongest party in the country. He said it is the leadership of the President which had given the strength to the Party.

Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva pointed out that countries in the World are amazed today. When the war drew to an end on the 19th of May, the innocent civilians had been resettled in their places of origin under the Easter Reawakening and the Uthuru Wasanthaya programmes. Building of roads, schools and factories was an amazing task.

Many Provincial and local government members were among the large gathering present.
