Rains to continue

Many parts of the country will continue to experience rains.

Fairly strong winds are experienced in Ratnapura and Kegalle Districts due to the influence of the South west monsoons. The Western slopes of the central hills are most affected due to rains. Our reporters say that continuous rains have affected normal life in the Nuwara Eliya District. The Nuwara Eliya – Gampola road was closed during last night due to a landslide risk. It was opened this morning. The road face landslide risks if the rains will continue. The vehicular traffic is affected by thick fog experienced in Nuwara Eliya and the adjoining areas during night. Meanwhile, 112 houses were damaged by strong winds which swept through 11 Grama Seva divisions. The Divisional Secretary of Kesbewa, Kusum Shanthi Iddegoda said that the roofs of the houses were dislodged. Several people had sustained injuries.
