The work in the first phase of the Uma Ela renovation project has been completed.
It was inaugurated by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva. The first phase of the Uma Ela project in the Welimada electorate in Badulla district was completed at the cost of eight million rupees. The water was released through five floodgates. More than 500 farming families are benefited by the project. It provides water to 250 acres of paddy fields. Parliamentarians, members of the provincial council and officials of the Irrigation Ministry participated in the occasion.
