President puts accent on quality

Promotion of quality in education should be the basis for all recommendations, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The President made this observation while accepting the report on national policy framework on Higher Education and vocational education from National Education Commission Chairman Prof A.V. Suraweera.
The Educational system should create a younger generation who can win the world but love the Motherland, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
President Rajapaksa said that the education authorities should deviate from opening educational institutes in an ad hoc manner. He emphazised the need of providing more facilities to the existing educational institutes and conducting them in a way that would ensure the higher standard of education. Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga said that more focus should be paid on the inauguration and promotion of IT and job oriented training courses in the country.
