President Rajapaksa has emphasized that a younger generation caring for the nation should be moulded through education.
The President was speaking while accepting the national policy framework on higher education and technical vocational education. It was presented to him by Chairman of the National Education Commission A.V. Suraweera. The President emphasized the need for the implementation of the new policies to promote the quality of education. It has been presented under three main categories and includes 102 recommendations to uplift higher education.
Further expressing his views, the President noted that more attention should be directed to maintaining the standard of educational institutions to be newly launched. At the same time the quality of the courses should be safeguarded. Giving his views, President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga pointed out that arming with knowledge on English language and Information Technology along with the new courses should be a must. He added that the crafting of job oriented courses would be more beneficial. Several Parliamentarians were present on this occasion.
