Federal authorities have arrested 15 foreign nationals who were working illegally at restaurants in South Carolina.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say they arrested seven men and eight women from Guatemala, China and Mexico on Wednesday in two Chinese restaurants and several homes in Beaufort and Bluffton.
Officials say the immigrants are accused of being in the country illegally and could be deported after a hearing with a deportation judge. Authorities say the restaurant owner is an immigration fugitive and was also arrested.
Federal prosecutors will decide if those arrested will face criminal charges. All 15 men and women are in ICE custody and will have hearings later, and it wasn't immediately clear if they had attorneys.
