Federal workers have removed about 50 geese from a South Carolina golf course after operators said the birds were damaging the greens.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported the geese were removed Thursday from the Coosaw Creek Country Club in North Charleston.
Some residents were unhappy about the removal of the birds. Sal Acosta lives in a subdivision at the course and says it was wrong to take the entire goose population.
Noel Myers with the U.S. Agriculture Department in South Carolina says the golf course requested the geese be removed.
Myers said workers planned to euthanize the birds and send the meat to area food banks. He says the agency has been doing that for several years.
