The Board of Directors of the Bank which met yesterday made the decision. Accordingly Sri Lanka will receive relief amounting to more than 154 million US dollars to renovate the roads devastated due to the war in the North.
The Sri Lanka Government has launched a massive programme to uplift peoples’ lives and seek their contribution for the economy. The aim of the Asia Development Bank is to assist this programme. 140 kilo metres of rural roads will be constructed in Mannar and Vavuniya Districts. 170 kilometres of roads in the North will be renovated. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2015.
