Two South Carolina street preachers are taking their case against a Greenville ordinance that prohibits disturbing people in public areas to federal court.
The Greenville News reported Sunday that Joshua Glidewell and Randy Bryson will ask a federal judge this week to block enforcement of parts of the ordinance while their lawsuit works its way through the court.
Glidewell and another street preacher were arrested in 2007 and charged with yelling and harassing people who passed by. Glidewell's case was dismissed after the police officer said he didn't shout at a couple. Preacher Joseph Bane was convicted of violating the city's ordinance and has appealed.
Bryson joined Glidewell's lawsuit that claims the ordinance violates their right to free speech.
