Sri Lanka A beaten

Jun 21, 2010 6:47:41 AM - srilankacricket.lk

Srilanka resumed at 224 for 5 in sunny conditions. The overnight pair of Chamara Silva and Kosala Kulasekera settled in well weathering the fast bowlers and the spinners.  Kulasekera was missed in the slips early but once they settled down both batsmen were  very comfortable. The new ball was taken by Australia quickly and with his personal score at 33 Kulkasekera was caught in the slips by Bailey off a delivery that got big on him. The partnership had realised 87 runs. Chamara Silva went at 307 for a well made 58. He batted with responsibility and had 9 boundaries in his innings. With his dismissal the tailed caved in and SriLanka were all out for 316 runs. Australia were victors by 107 runs. Hilfenhaus was the most successful bowler with figures of 21.5-8-63-5. Being on the comeback trail after injury it would have given him immense satisfaction.

His all round performance with the bat and ball played a major role in Australia’s victory. SriLanka leave for Townswille tomorrow morning by air on a 2 hour flight.
