The Health Ministry is launching a new programme to control epidemics. Minister Maithripala Sirisena made this observation while addressing the 44th Convention of Government Pharmacists.
The Minister said approval had been received for setting up of a new Additional Secretary post in the Ministry. Eradication and prevention of disease will be vested in this post. Assistance of a pharmacist was not available during the issues that surfaced recently. He expressed his desire to seek views of Pharmacists in this connection.
The Minister further said that the introduction of the system of Advisory Committees will take place on the 2nd of next month. It is being implemented to solve the problems in the health sector. The Ministry is specially focusing on meeting the crisis created by epidemics at present. Minister Sirisena said that relevant officials will be appointed for this purpose.
