The Navy has brought 22 Sri Lankan fishermen safely home after their release from the Indian custody.
Naval Spokesman Capt. Athula Senarath said that the Navy brought them back yesterday after the Indian authorities released them from their custody. They were brought in an Indian coast guard vessel and handed over to the ‘Edithara -2 vessel of the Sri Lanka Navy at the Indo-Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line, in the sea north of Kankesanturai. They arrived at the harbour yesterday and are currently staying at the Navy camp in Kankesanturai. He said that the Navy has made arrangements to send the fishermen from Matara, Kottegoda, Dondra and Valachchenai back to their respective areas today.
