A 50-year-old Hilton Head Island woman was arrested Sunday after spraying a neighbor with a water hose during a dispute about lawn mowing, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
A 55-year-old woman's clothes were still wet when an officer arrived at her home. She said she asked her neighbor's 62-year-old husband to stop mowing over her property line, but he couldn't hear because of the din. After she approached him and spoke louder, the man pushed her on the shoulder, and as she was calling 911, his wife sprayed her with the hose, she said.
Both the man and his wife were using profanity, the neighbor said.
The man denied pushing the neighbor and said the neighbor emerged from her home, threw the line for his invisible fence in front of his mower and refused to leave his property.
As the officer was interviewing the man, his wife interjected she had sprayed their neighbor because she was worried her husband might have a stroke if the dispute continued.
