A sheriff has suspended one of his deputies for hitting a suspect who made a sexual comment about the officer’s daughter.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker told the Morning News of Florence that he suspended the deputy for three days after the incident earlier this month. The sheriff says the officer had arrested the suspect for disorderly conduct, being a minor in possession of alcohol and resisting arrest.
The suspect made the comment to the deputy while he was being booked, and the officer hit him, breaking his nose.
Parker says a video of the incident shows both men were out of control. The officer has returned to duty. The sheriff refused to identify the deputy or the suspect.
