Deputy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has revealed that the government has allocated 60 Billion Rupees to improve the living standards of the rural community.
Speaking at the launch of the “Gemi Diriya” programme in the Kegalle district the Minister said that more than 60 Billion Rupees is being allocated for economic development. The President has made it one of the leading Ministries. The Capital expenditure is more than 40 Billion Rupees. This is expected to be utilized to improve the living standards of the rural folk. The Minister emphasized a majority of the funds will be used for regional development.
The ceremony was held at the Yatiyantota Divisional Secretariat. “Gemi Diriya \” is already operative in the Badulla, Moneragala, Ratnapura, Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts. It has been newly introduced to the Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya Districts. Officials and peoples representatives were present.
