The Government decides to supply fuel to the Northern polity at a low price. It will be effective from the first of next month. Minister Susil Premajyanth has given instructions to officials of the Petroleum Corporation to take the necessary action.
At present, fuel is sold in the North at a rate higher than the normal price. This is mainly due to the cost incurred on the transport of fuel to the region. Based on the new decision, the price of a litre of Petrol will cost one rupee and 50 cents more, and that of Diesel a rupee more. The price of a litre of Kerosene will cost 50 cents less. The Minister has also instructed the relevant authorities to transport fuel to Anuradhapura and Vavuniya by train as far as possible.
