Sri Lanka Navy has brought home 22 Sri Lankan fishermen released from Indian custody.
The fishermen had been detained by the Indian authorities for venturing into Indian territorial waters. They were released following the mediation of the Sri Lankan Government.
The fishermen are from Gandara, Devundara and Matara. One their arrival they were taken to the Kankasanthurai Naval Camp. Sri Lanka Naval Ship “Edithara II” brought the fishermen to the KKS Harbour last evening and provided them with food and required assistance. The Navy provided transport facilities for the fishermen up to Medawachchiya on their return home.
