The Government will not allow the UN expert panel to come to Sri Lanka. External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said today that to come to Sri Lanka they will need visas. However he said Sri Lanka sees no reason why they should come.
The Minister said that although the UN has made it very clear that the Expert Panel appointed by the UN Chief is an advisory panel and not an investigative body, Sri Lanka still rejects it on the basis that it is counterproductive to the country. Speaking to reporters he pointed out that Sri Lanka will not allow the UN Panel of Experts to enter the country to conduct any sort of investigations
