Minister Champika Ranawaka has said that the Ceylon Electricity Board will be transformed into an efficient and profitable institution.
The Minister said that a programme is being launched to reduce expenditure during this year. It is expected to initiate a process for cost cutting during next year as well. He said that the Ministry is giving priority to eliminate financial loss.
The Minister expressed these views while participating in an inspection tour of the Norochchole thermal power plant. The Minister also inspected the wind power plant at Puttalm and the Heladanavi diesel power plant. The Minister has also focussed on launching a pre-payment system for the convenience of the electricity consumers.
