India’s Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma arrived in Colombo a short while ago.
Naval Media Spokesman Capt. Athula Senarath said that an Indian vessel also reached the Colombo port today in compliance with the visit of the Indian Navy Commander.
He said that “INS Delhi”, an Indian Navy destroyer arrived in the Colombo port simultaneous to the visit. It was welcomed with the traditions of the Navy. Officials of the Indian High Commission also participated in the occasion. The destroyer is 163 metres in length and 17 metres in width. Fifty officers of the Indian Navy and a staff of 163 sailors are on board. Capt. S. Srikanth of the Indian Navy is the Commanding Officer of the war ship. The Sri Lanka Navy has organized several programmes with regard to the arrival of the Indian naval vessel.
