The new Budget which will prepare the background for the development drive in the country will be presented in Parliament tomorrow.
Funds for Government activities were allocated during the past six months by the presentation of supplementary estimates to Parliament. The new Budget has been prepared after the establishment of economic and political stability since the election of the new Government. The related Appropriation Bill was presented to the House on the 8th of this month. The Government’s intention is to make Sri Lanka “Asia’s Miracle” reaching the large scale development targets within the next few years. Laying the required background for this purpose, the Budget speech is due to be delivered in Parliament tomorrow by Deputy Minister Sarath Amunugama.
Deputy Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera said that this Budget will allocate funds for state security, economic development, public welfare, various subsidies, rural infrastructure development, public service salaries and the maintenance of public service. He pointed out that the foundation for the development oriented Budget to be presented for 2011 in November, will be laid in this Budget.
