The property of Dannuna Tilakaratne, son-in-law of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka who is accused of involvement in the HiCorp financial fraud, has been confiscated.
The order was given by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today. Dannuna Tilakaratne was ordered to appear in courts today. However when the case was taken up today, he did not do so despite the serving of notices on him.
Accordingly, Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered to confiscate the property of the suspect, responding to a request from the CID. It was pointed out that the confiscated property could be utilized for a suitable purpose by the Minister in charge of the Justice portfolio. The items include seven bank accounts totalling 15 million rupees and 1251 US Dollars.
