The transport of fuel by train from Colombo to Batticaloa has resumed after a lapse of 22 years.
The first fuel train left from the Kolonnawa Oil Complex to Batticaloa last evening. The train comprised 10 bowsers comprising ten thousand gallons of fuel. The transport of fuel by train resumed as a result of talks conducted between the Transport and Petroleum Industries Ministers. Minister Kumara Welgama said that they could save a colossal sum through the transport of fuel by rail.
