Enhanced facilities for studies – Minister S.B.Dissanayake.

Minister S,B,Dissanayake has emphasized that the Government is geared to make available new opportunities for the youths of the country by providing facilities of high standards to Private Higher Educational Institutions.

The Minister said that a Specialised Institution will be launched for Educational Institutions to work in collaboration with Universities. This will be done through the enactment of a special Act. State Sponsorship will be accorded for Higher Educational Institutions. Through this initiative, the Government expected to lift restrictions on free education. The Higher Education Minister pointed out that streamlined programmes will be crafted with the involvement of resources contributors to assist children who are unable to enter Universities due to financial problems.

The Minister gave these views by joining at the launching of the Futureminds 2010 Education Exhibition, an event organized by the Junior Past Pupils Association of Nalanda College Colombo. It was organized for the fifth occasion. The Exhibition affords students who had completed their education to new educational and vocational opportunities. Certificates were awarded to winners of an islandwide essay competition organized before the exhibition. Ministers Anura Priyadarshana Yap and Tissa Karaliyadde, Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala, Carlo Fonseka and ITN Chairman Rosmund Senaratne were present on the occasion. The Exhibition will conclude on Sunday.
