President Rajapaksa has said that the Sri Lankan nation is honestly proud of being able to guide the entire world plagued by terrorism.
Today is the third day of President’s official visit to Ukraine. The President expressed this view during a lunch hosted in his honour by his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych. Sri Lanka is stepping into the future with confidence and expectations. The entire country is now secure. The President said that they were now shouldering the task of establishing national unity and reconciliation through wide reconstruction, bringing about effective chances to the socio economic sector and building infrastructure.
He claimed that the Ukrainian President’s vision of sustainable economic development for social progress and meting out justice to the people was common to the Sri Lankan nation. He expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian Government to the unstinted support extended to Sri Lanka in her efforts to consolidate peace and security.
Meanwhile, the President joined in a visit to the Antanov Aircraft Manufacturing Plant in Ukraine this morning. The President was specially interested in the Antonov 225, the world’s largest aircraft used for the transport of cargo. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, Minister Prof. G.L.Peiris, President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge and Yoshitha Rajapaksa, who is following a Degree Course at the Ukraine National Defence University, were among those who joined the President.
