The Netherlands satisfied with Sri Lanka’s response to international intervention

The Netherlands has expressed appreciation about the direct responses of Sri Lanka against direct international interventions made in its internal affairs.

Netherlands Ambassador Leoni Cuelenaere made this reference when she called on Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office. The Ambassador said that the conduct of the country as a sovereign nation is commendable in the global network. She said the Netherlands Government has decided to continuously provide support to uplift normal life in the North and East that was devastated in the war. The Ambassador said that 139 million rupees will be granted to Sri Lanka for this purpose. She further said that the Netherlands will continue to support Sri Lanka for the promotion of tourism and expand investment opportunities.

Prime Minister D.M. Jayyaratne said the President has launched a programme that ensures the rights of all communities.
