The mother of Hasalaka Gamini, the hero who sacrificed his life on behalf of the country, pays homage to him.
Y.G. Juliet, the mother of Hasalaka Gamini Kularatne received an opportunity of going to Elephant Pass according to a request made by President Rajapaksa. Hasalaka Gamini was serving in the Sixth Sinha Regiment. He gave his life by breaking into the Bulldozer of the tiger terrorists on the night of June 12th 1991. Yesterday was the first time Hasalaka Gamini’s mother was able to see Elephant Pass where her brave son made the supreme sacrifice to save the Elephant Pass Army Camp from the ruthless terrorists 19 years ago.
The visit was organized by Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake. The Punyanumodana was administered by members of the Maha Sangha. Hasalaka Gamini’s mother and the Chief Minister paid floral tributes opposite the Bulldozer and paid tribute to the gallant soldier. Col. D. Jayasuriya, Commander of the 661st Division of the Sixth Regiment and relatives of the valiant soldiers joined in this occasion.
