Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said that there has been an improvement in the standard of education as result of the Government policies.
The Minister said he had received the nod of the Government to submit a Cabinet on grading the G.C.E. Ordinary Level results. Instead of giving a “W” for the marks below 35, a near pass would be granted for marks between 25 and 35. He said that if the marks are less than 25, a “W” would be given as ‘weak’. This would permit a large number of students to enter the Advanced Level class.
The Minister expressed these views while participating in the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Matara St. Thomas’s Girls High School.
